With the group suffering from some serious injuries, it is decided to spend some time recuperating after the battle. You have only limited food and water reserves. Todiel tells you that once you descend into the Kaer proper that the food chambers still operate though the water is questionable at best. Based on his concerns you decide you can wait no longer than three days before descending further into the Kaer in the search for food and Heffgold's treasure.

You set up watches to guard both the entrance to the Kaer and also the tunnel leading down into the Kaer's inner chambers. The entrance, just in case you wer chased here and the tunnel, just in case you meet the darkness that Todiel speaks of.

Temorya soon realises that he still has his magical abilities and that all he has lost is his racial abilities to fly (obviously) and to see into the astral plane naturally. He marvels at his new strength and heat sight but complains bitterly during the cold nights as his old bones rack his body in pain, and he is soon out of breath and energy, even after short periods of exertion. The stave still operates but now all it does is slowly rotate, pointing in all directions seeing it has found its home. Todiel stays close to him, muttering soothing words as pain racks Temorya, all too aware of what the old troll is going through. On Pean's questioning of the thread in astral space he looks narrowly at him and says that he is no adept, and of the thread, perhaps it is the magical connection he has with his work in this place.

Suskin and Shalamar soon get restless, though only Suskin becomes difficult to handle, the superior training of Shalamar showing that the beast is only mildly uncomortable. Her saddlebags full to the brim with dried grasses to sustain her though the beast has little taste for it, fretting over the condition of Shalandra who struggles to even stand for at least a day (suffering a fractured pelvis and several broken ribs is not fun). Suskin however makes a terror of himself. You catch the bear not once but twice, finishing off a portion of trail rations. The beast also had foods mysteriously appear in Shalamar's pack but it seems to restless to stick only with the dried salty meats and eats a couple of portions of your own meals. Several of you swear to make a bearskin rug out of him if he does it again. Farli, distressed at the behaviour spends a good deal of her time working to train Suskin further. The bear seems to be responding to her as a true companion and learning its tasks quickly.

Todiel devotes himself completely to Temorya, making sure the troll is comfortable and always in his sight. He only talks to those that Temorya has words with and stands with him at all times. At night, when the temperature drops, he sits with you all around the small fire you allow, trying not to waste the dwindling firewood that was laid out in the chamber. You ask him of the darkness that exists and he seems reluctant to talk of what he has seen. But slowly you draw information from the Windling who once was a troll. The darkness has taken many forms over the years. Todiel tells you that he has been working here for at least 7 years, in an attempt to make the area safer for travellers to the area. He travelled here alone and set to work, going into the Kaer only to get food as often as needed. The Kaer is well populated by its former residents, mainly in the form of cadaver men, who wander the kaer keeping everything clean and in place. The only area they leave is the food chambers due to the nature of them they have little interest in it.

He has not seen the horror that must lay in wait somewhere in the chamber, though once there was a creature made of bone that came up the passage and moved about the chamber. Todiel managed to stay away from it undetected but looking at the ball of bone it drove him to a great thirst. At first he thought that this must be the horror but on my next trip into the Kaer he saw two of them in the area, which suggests to him that they are constructs of the horror. Generally this chamber is ignored by the inhabitants below and the visit from the bone thing and one or two cadaver men the area has been occupied only by Todiel. He tells you that you are not the first to have arrived here and that at least two seperate groups have descended into the kaer before you. What happened to them he has no idea but none have ever returned.

<Recuperation allows those that were injured to look like the following after three days. I have assumed that for those three days, there are no woodskins or other talents that cost recovery tests used so that healing is the number one priority. The healing kit and all refills is exhausted after these three days. The stats below are at first light after karma rituals on the fourth day after the battle. If your name does not appear, you have fully healed.>

<Angavorn dam 39 wounds 1, WS: 26>
<Rose dam 0, wound 1, WS: 13>
<Lenora dam 22 >
<Shalandra dam 15, Wounds 1>

<You have only about three days of food remaining. About four days of water. Elklisee and Angavorn are united that on the fourth day you should be pushing into the Kaer. Please post anything you specifically did in the three days recuperation, as well as trying to focus on going into the Kaer. If there is no discussion in that direction, I will assume that you are all headed in next post. I feel that some time needs to be devoted to the rest period though as there are several loosse ends within the group at the moent!>

<Please check the website pages too please....>

<I am talking to a new player at the moment also so he may start soon....>

<Cheers>
