With the last of his incantation complete, Pean stands and leads the animals into the area. The most confused of the creatures being Suskin and Shalamar. Farli had to return several times to berate the cub before it does not attempt the crossing to the other side of the river. Shalamar is more set and knows she must wait but the stress in the great animal is plain as it sees her mistress walk the breadth of the river.
It is not a few times that you catch Farli and Shalandra looking back to the river but soon the terrain becomes so bad that full concentration needs to be placed on the almost shale appearance of the ground ahead. Soon you find yourselves wandering into sharp ravines lined with almost razor sharp rocks. Elklisee's prediction of the terrain ahead seems all too real as the sun burns overhead like a merciless eye staring down at you. You take longer over the middle of the day and try to find an area shielded by the rocks from the sun but even those feel as though they were baked in an oven, forcing you from their surface.
The group starts to drink a lot of water as the air cools slightly in the afternoon. Trying to withold as much as you can you attempt to ration but each time the spout of the waterskin touches your mouth it seems harder to let it release and deprive you of the waters richness.
The afternoons temperature begins to drop rapidly as you see the sun beginning to set behind the lip of the ravine that you have found yourself in. A couple of your party are nursing sore ankles from rolling them in the loose rocks on the ground so you look to setting camp in the ravine to save an uncomfortable climb to the next ridge. You have travelled solidly throughout the day and already seen several openings that look as though they were once the opening of a Kaer. On closer investigation you find them all breached, and not wanting to risk the chance of coming across the new inhabitants you made your way on.
The area is devoid of any noise apart from the repetetive sounds of your own steps. The rocks grinding together at times letting off a shrill noise. You are happy to sit in silence as the darkness takes a hold and chew at some of the dried meat that Elklisee has purchased for your journey. Light and plenty of it you find it has little taste apart from the salt it was cured in but you are thankful for the meal as the journey has been tiring.
As you chew the last few bites and begin to consider the watches you hear the sound of rocks slipping from far above you. Each of you had been lost in your own thoughts but now you look up and can see shapes moving down the ravine face toward you. At least 8 of the creatures come down the ravine wall. They are low to the ground and about 8 foot in length. Reptilian for certain with large bulbous eyes.
"Lightning Lizards!" Elklisee hisses as she reaches for one of her hawk hatchets.
<Eeek - lightning lizards! They are roughly 100 yards and closing.>
<Moves please The site is still not uploadable. Sorry. I have referred it to the helpdesk but it looks as though a fix may be a little while.>
