My Earthdawn Resource Page

Information, houserules and programs for the earthdawn roleplaying game, as can be found at Living Room Games; there is also a good resource for things earthdawn at Earthdawn.com

Software

I would recommend getting a copy of the excellent Second Step - its a windows program which does a very good job of tracking and creating ED charecters. Personally I run it under emulation, either Virtual PC for MacOS X, or the excellent Crossover Office for linux.

I've written a perl script that generates dice rolls for earthdawn, using their step system; run it with the step number you want generated as a parameter, and it will give you the total result of the roll, generating each dice roll individually, and applying the re-roll at the highest number rule. its written in Perl so should be executible on any system that has a perl interpreter. not sure? Go to the Perl web page and find out more.. The program's source code is released under the GNU GPL, of which you can find out more here.
Anyway, you can download the program here .....like it? dont like it? found bugs? (not the Invae, for those in the know..:-) then mail me at

After I posted this link to the earthdawn mailing list Gary Jackson mailed out a perl script to compute the stats for beginning characters:

"Here's a perl program that calculates the number of creation points left for a starting character of a given race with a given set of stats. I wrote it years ago, and now I've updated it with the new racial attribute modifiers. Basically, you call it with the six attribute values (dex, str, tou, per, wil, cha, in that order), followed by the race name."
He kindly allowed me to post the script here as well, so enjoy! If you want to contact gary about his script, you can mail him at:

Spells

Inspired by the write up of the Wisps in "Creatures of Barsaive", I used the Spell Creation Rules in "Magic a Manual Of Magical Secrets" to make the spell that creates them;
Create Wisp is a 9th Level Wizard spell, created by the Theran Wizard Nimir.

Other Stuff

Josh Harrison has written an Excellent guide to creating and playing a Journeyman. I've made it available for reading or download here.
Update! Josh now has his site up and running, but has kindly allowed me to continue hosting this guide. I recommend stepping over to The Lore Merchant and taking a look at his site..

I have also written some rules to use the Earthdawn setting with the Savage Worlds setting. You can find out more about this on my Savage Worlds page.
