"We need to make a decision. It seems Todiel has determined that he does
not wish to help us decide. So I'll line up the options as I see them."
Ayoë counts the choices on her fingers.
"One... we can leave Todiel here, tied up, and then go explore, hoping that
he will still be here when we come back. The disadvantage to this plan is
the fact that he might be able to free himself and cause trouble for us,
even trying one more time to swap bodies. Or he might be killed if
something wanders by while we are not around - after all, leaving him bound
is not exactly kind."
"Two... We can decapitate him." Ayoë pales even speaking of it. "I would be
squemish at that option, but it would solve the problem of worrying about
Todiel attacking us from behind."
"Three... We can let him go. The disadvantage to that plan is that he might
be able to reach some other innocent creature and swap bodies with him or
her. We could very well end up with the life of an innocent on our hands. I
am not very much in favour of this plan..."
"Four... We can try to bring him with us, hoping to use his power to get an
easier fight with the Horror. I doubt if it would work that way - I am
seriously afraid that we might instead make Todiel a more formidable enemy
than the Horror would have been without his help."
"Five... ah... ehm... I think I've run out of options." Ayoë looks up. The
scholarly way she has lined up the options seems almost cold in their lack
of emotion.
"I think I vote for either option one or two. I know I have previously
spoken in his defence, but... the more I analyze the situation, the more
evil his nature seems to me. And as he has most likely already committed
unnamed atrocious acts in the preservation of his miserable life, I doubt
if anyone could fault us for taking his life, ridding the world of a soul
gone wrong. I would like to think that all can be brought to the way of the
light, but it is not so. It is a naive dream..." She sighs. "I apologize
for making the assumption that I have a say in the matter. I realize that
the ultimate decision is not mine. These are just my thoughts on the
matter."
Ayoë blushes and steps back a bit, covering in her cloak as if cold. The
beautiful Esparagra scale cloak catches the light and reflects it in many
different blue shades.
