OOC: Any signs of hinges, or that it had been opened previously?
Pean walks around the perimeter of the door, careful not to step on it,
examining every inch of it both physically and from the astral plane,
checking the construction, and for the presence of any remaining wards
(OOC: Astral sight check, please. God I love that talent :-). A
couple of times he stops and confers quietly with Temorya, checking his
findings with the diminutive windling (OOC: if any..;-).
Finally, his inspection complete he sighs, and sits on a boulder not
quite as jagged as the others.
"I am reminded of our late friend Kaleb. I believe weaponsmiths have a
greater understanding of item patters and curses. Despite the commonly
held belief, Nethermancers do not all know about curses. Neither
Temorya or myself are wizards, so we may not be able to dispel any
remaining wards. My master did not spend much time on Kaer defenses
when I was a student - believe it or not, I spent much of my time
learning how I could apply Nethermancy to merchanting - so I know
little more than the rest of you. Temorya - did your master teach you
aught of the wards and protections of Kaers?" (OOC: Half magic check
for "background knowledge" Pean may have on these things, if
appropriate. Peter, do Elementalists get half magic tests for building
info? I don't have my books to hand..).
"Still. You have your magicians to counter any sorcery as best we can.
We have our stalwart Warriors, ready to to battle with our opponent,
or any lingering...squatters.
But for entry to a place we have no right to be, for that we look to a
Thief! Mistress Elklisee, it is your turn to shine. Please, show us
the way! But do not be too quick, for I have a couple of preparations
to do first.."
He waves his hand theatrically at the door in a good humoured, but not
mocking, manner.
As preparations are being made, he will take the light quartz from his
backpack and bind it to the top of his staff as a makeshift torch, with
a small sack stuffed into his belt ready to throw over it and "douse"
the light, if needed. He will also take a couple of potions from one
of his pockets, and move them to his belt pouch. (OOC: *out* of the
pocket protected by Pocket Guardian.. :-)
"Take note, please! There is a booster potion, and a Last Chance
Salve, in this pouch. If I go down, please feel free to use them to
assist me! Rest assured I will do the same for you!"
Despite, or perhaps because of, the normally taciturn elf's jocular
manner, his companions sense his nervousness, covered by the bravado
and veneer of the professional.
He adjusts his pack, staff and dagger for easy motion, and composes
himself, using the meditative aspect of moving spells into his Matrix's
to calm himself (OOC: re-attune spell matrix to: Undead Struggle,
Astral Spear and Life Circle of One, please). Once complete, the
familiar practice calms him, and he is able to nearly ignore the fact
that he may be going into battle with the entities responsible for
nearly destroying his world. Nearly.
