Illyana smiles to Kestrel and slips her hand into the older elfs for a
second or two, sqeezing it firmly for comfort and reassurance. Then she
steps forward with a small curtsey, elegant as the dancer she is, and
clears her voice.

"As intrigued as I am by the story itself, I would appreciate to know a few
details before agreeing or disagreeing to your proposal. You say the Lady
Yuriel is an Adept of the discipline Swordmaster. Which circle had she
attained? And could you describe the members of the group known as the Far
Striders to me? Names, race, age, sex, looks, disciplines, approximate
circles, distinctive features - anything that would help us identify them
and assess the dangers of the situation? Where have they last been seen, to
your knowledge? Who is your source?" Illyana pauses, waiting for the elves
to answer.

*** OOC: Is the name Lady Yuriel in any way known to Illyana? Circle Path
Company? Far Striders? She has no relevant skills, but at least the Lady
Yuriel is of her own discipline and must have lived not far from her, as
she comes from the rural areas near Throal. ***

With that, they begin to escort you upstairs to the upper floors. In the
hallway, you see a pair of elvish guards similarly garbed and equipped as
the two who are escorting you. They stand watch between the block of rented
rooms and the rest of the inn.
>
> As you approach, the guards stand upright to let you all pass and they
announce loudly, "The party arrives!" With that, a door opens and you are
led into a large room. The room is one of the larger rooms in Loak's Legacy
- the largest, in fact, if you don't consider the tavern or the communal
sleeping area. Although the bed frame and wardrobe are the same simple
wooden shapes as used in other rooms of the inn, the rest of the chamber
has been transformed.
>
> The bed is dressed with silken sheets and a thick Dwarven Winternight
Blanket. Tapestries are draped along each of the walls; one proudly
displaying the crest of the kingdom of Throal, another detailing the
intricate coat of arms of the Circle Path Company, and the rest depicting
scenes of the Elven Wood when it was still known as Wyrmwood. An
intricately carved wooden chair with thick, padded cushions has been
brought into the room, as well as some of the long benches of the same sort
that are used at the tables downstairs.
>
> Sitting in the chair is an immaculately groomed elf wearing expensive
clothes which some may recognize as being fashions of Queen Alachia's
court. He is flanked by a pair of elves, one wearing the more practical,
but still very well tailored, garb of a wealthy Throalic merchant; the
other wearing a mother-of-pearl mask and hooded ebon robes embroidered with
Nethermantic symbolism. Holding the door open for you is the final
inhabitant of the room, a sharp-eyed obsidiman resplendent in his
crystalline armor.
>
> The elf you see in the chair stands and greets each one of you, taking
care to learn your names. After this, he steps back so that he may see the
entire group and speaks, "Thank you all for coming on such short notice.
Let me tell you why I have brought you here. My older sister, Lady Yuriel,
is, by right of succession, the Head of the Circle Path Company. However,
she is also an Adept, a Swordmaster Adept in specific, and she has a taste
for the adventures that Barsaive has to offer. She was once free to pursue
them, that is, before she was weighed with the responsibilities of
leadership.
>
> "The call of adventure was apparently too great, and she took leave from
her position to join a group of fellow Adepts, the Far Striders, to come to
Parlainth. We have had a merchant captain friendly to the Circle Path
Company who makes frequent airship travel to Haven inquire about the
happenings of the Far Striders when he is in town, and carry news back to
us in Throal. The news that he has brought is most grave. The Far Striders
have disappeared in Parlainth. Today makes six days since they have last
been seen in Haven. I am concerned about the well-being of my sister, and I
would like you to go into Parlainth, rescue her, and bring her back to me."
>
> One of the other finely dressed elves steps forward. He wears a hooded
mask and only his eyes can be seen, but at the corners, burned flesh can be
seen. You also see that he wears embroidered robes and on occasion you can
see he has tattoos on his skin that look like magical writings. He speaks
to the group; "You will be paid 300 silver each in advance as well as
another 700 each upon the safe return of Lady Yuriel. You will also be
equipped with a Forged (2) melee or thrown weapon of your choice, or a
quiver with fifteen Forged (1) arrows or crossbow bolts.

>
> <Also, if anyone had wished to do a karma ritual the night before and/or
this morning please let me know. Please also double check your character's
karma ritual before saying that you had wished to do this, as, for example,
Lyra's requires her to be guided into a forest blindfolded and she has to
find her way out to complete her ritual. So, if it couldn't really be done
right now, don't ask to have it done but rather wait for the opportune
moment. Thanks. >
