llyana waits patiently for T'sunami to finish his deathsong. It must be a
warrior-thing, she thinks. She bows her head in silent prayer. Death is not
easy.
Then she looks at the lizardman. "T'sunami... I agree with not robbing
Berryblood in general, but I really think we need the lightquartz. And
perhaps his potions, since we are alive and he is not. Although I'm
probably not the one to say what he would like, then I doubt if he would
like us to be stuck here without it, since he was the one who got us to go
down here in the first place."
T'sunami continues to work in silence for a number of heartbeats. His
eyes remain locked on the work before him. "Death's Sea will provide all
the light the Warrior will need," he replies quietly, "and Thystonius tends
to his wounds. His spirit will not need those things, but the corruption
of this place threatens to torture a restless spirit with unnatural life.
We should leave him in peace."
- "So... in plain speaking - do you want us to use the lightquartz and the
potion or not?" Illyana looks puzzled.
- "No."
- "That's... unpractical. Let me assure you that should I happen to die,
you are very welcome to whatever I carry that might be of value to you. I
would hope that my dad gets my money, but apart from that, I don't intend
to be a grumpy spirit - ever."
- "Unfortunately Berryblood didn't have the chance to make similar
assurances," T'sunami snaps. His snout twitches slightly as he holds his
tongue, busing himself with stones. "And we can't know his wishes." The
t'skrang's voice evens out as he fights down his anger with the knowledge
that the young human simply does not understand. "I will not dishonor the
Way of the Warrior by sentencing his spirit to a tortured afterlife.
Despite our disagreements, he is still my brother."
- "Actually, in a way he did. He practically threw his potion at us."
- "And it was returned to him, unwanted. I will not steal from a fallen
Warrior."
T'sunami nods once, then continues his work. Illyana silently helps him. It
is the least she can do.

"Hmm?" T'sunami snaps awake, momentarily stunned by the cave in and
Berryblood's death. He t'skrang blinks as he clears his head. "No," he
says, shaking his head. "I didn't see anything." The Warrior continues to
stare at the fallen troll. Berryblood's death hung heavy in his chest,
though differently than for the others.
No warrior could stand against his enemies forever. There would always be
a
time when one will suffer a final defeat an join his brothers and sisters
in
Death's army. But Parlainth... the meaningless, unexpected type of death
which denied a Warrior the right to face their battle was far too common
within its ruined walls. The troll's tragic death brought that reality far
to close for comfort.
"Leave his personal belongings," T'sunami says, starting to become aware of
the adepts' surroundings once again. "We know of him or his family, should
let him take them with him to the Fields. Only take his food - there is no
need to anger his spirit here in these Passion-forsaken ruins."
T'sunami kneels near the fallen Warrior, rearranging the rubble to help
build a makeshift tomb. Barely audible above the sound of Siri's climbing,
a low Warrior's dirge escapes his lips.
