When Nightwind tries to use Berrybloods poultrice on Illyanas wound, she
pushes him away absentmindedly. "I'm not poisoned anymore. Keep it handy
for the next time. Don't worry - there WILL be a next time. Ghouls are
nasty and plentiful, said my gramps." She smiles at him quickly.

> Astran looks down during the tirade, tears making tracks through the
grime on his cheeks, gone stark pale from shock and pain. Unnoticed, blood
so dark is is almost black runs in a line from his nose. "You

her. I had to do something. I *could* do something, so I did." He looks
up, anger sparking through the grief and dawning horror at
> what he has done. "Would you carry a sword, and not use it? *I'm* the
one damned here. If a Horror did mark me - I'll fight it. I'm not a
cadaver man yet." He looks down again, all the fire spent in this one
> outburst. "You shouldn't trust me, though. Leave me here. I'll find
the Horror and kill it, then catch up with you."

> "I promise" murmurs Astran, not able to make eye contact. Underneath the
fear, and the part of him gibbering in terror at what might happen to him,
he's confused. Berryblood's anger was to be expected, and > certianly
nothing that a Wizard could not turn aside, but this acceptance is
surprising, almost shocking. By rights, his companions should run him
through, right here, stone him to death before he betrays or > harms then,
yet most seem indifferent, if not sympathetic.

> He looks up at the people around him, hesitating, afraid to speak the
words. "I...I might be tainted. I don't know. It could just be the warped
astral space interfering with my spell. Tantalus wrote about it in his >
"Mana and The Astral". But it might be more. You shouldn't trust me. Do
you still want me around?"

Illyana turns her full attention back towards Astran. There is no way she
is going to allow him to commit suicide like this. So she speaks again:

"WE will find the Horror and kill it. But not this second. You are way too
hurt to go hunt Horrors. For that matter, so am I. T'sunami has a point -
those of us too wounded should go back to the inn. As I see it, that would
be you, Trystan and me. I'm not going to force anyone to follow my
suggestions, but we are not really ready for another fight like the one we
just had. Or we might find shelter somewhere around here... " she looks at
the two buildings nearby "... and stay there for a few hours to heal up,
while we try to contemplate the way to proceed."

She looks around at them all. "As for trust and such... Astran has earned
mine. Trust is earned, not given. As is respect." For a while she locks
eyes with Berryblood, trying to make the troll understand that he has none
of hers. "I suggest that we find a better battleplan for the next time
round, anyway. As we've clearly seen, having wizards in the frontline is
not a great plan. As a group, we are not overly experienced. Let's take
this as a dangerous learning experience." She tries to be her most
encouraging self. "Without being too much of a braggard, I can tell you
that I know a few things about fighting. I've been fighting all my life."
She neglects to mention that her opponents have mainly been her 6 larger
and older brothers. "I've learned how to use every advantage available. So
I think I can help those less experienced, if you'll just listen to me."

*** OOC: She has Tactics, if Doug allowed me to switch skills - or will get
it the moment I have a day of downtime in a city of just about any size.
