He tries to return her smile, but its a weak effort at best. If it
wasn't for the years of training in discipline, he likely would have
broken down and bawled like the child he felt like. This was not like
the sagas. This didn't happen to the hero's..

"I promise" murmurs Astran, not able to make eye contact. Underneath
the fear, and the part of him gibbering in terror at what might happen
to him, he's confused. Berryblood's anger was to be expected, and
certianly nothing that a Wizard could not turn aside, but this
acceptance is surprising, almost shocking. By rights, his companions
should run him through, right here, stone him to death before he
betrays or harms then, yet most seem indifferent, if not sympathetic.
He looks up at the people around him, hesitating, afraid to speak the
words.
"I...I might be tainted. I don't know. It could just be the warped
astral space interfering with my spell. Tantalus wrote about it in his
"Mana and The Astral". But it might be more. You shouldn't trust me.
Do you still want me around?"
