I figured I'd answer this to the group as a whole instead of just Jhez, so
that you are all aware. I guess I didn't explain things too well. This all
would have been better if I had caught it ahead of time. Technically
Endok-Tuk and those with ranged weapons and spells would be able to get a
shot off before they get within range for Endok-Tuk to determine how many
are within the 25 yard range.

It is getting quite dark, however the clouds are somewhat lit by the moon.
The heavy rain provides much disadvantage as well. It has been light enough
until you got into the Twists, and it is quite a bit darker to the point
where one would probably wish to light their way, although Berryblood has
not yet gotten out anything. (I cannot find the lit range of a light quartz
however, about 120 feet? Anyone?).

To make sense of things, I would say to allow Endok-Tuk's spell to have had
a 50 or so yard radius for the situation, and now before the creatures close
in those with ranged spells can get a shot off before they enclose. Sorry
about the confusion. If you are still confused, let me know.
