Listening to the threats and rantings of the members, Garrott quietly
stood and moved to the slumped form of Todiel. He did not want to see the
being die, for merely acting within his nature and although his actions
could be condemned by the Name Givers here, he was sure that any deer they
killed for meat would see them in the same way as they saw Todiel. Garrott
also understood that the being that was Todiel had nothing to lose, so he
would offer no more than what he had, he also had nothing to gain being
bound and dying.
"I think Todiel I understand why it is you do what you do, for I have no
desire to die either. However, you must also understand that I cannot allow
you to inhabit the body of any of my companions. I have no understanding of
how your kind interacts with each other, however rest assured that amongst
the races we represent here, there is little we would not do to save our
companions, including leaving you here until the body you inhabit fails you
and dies." The big Obsidimans eyes attempted to lock with those of the
being that was Todiel, for he was sure that although their thought patterns
were truly different, in the Obsidimans eyes he would see the truth of it.
"However I feel that we may be able to offer you a solution that would be
more palatable to all involved." Taking a deep breath Garrott decided it
was now or never. "What I propose is this, the Kaer is infested with a
horror, it is what is polluting this area and I assume it is quite powerful.
Should you give us your word you will not take us as hosts, I am prepared to
offer you my assistance in taking the form of the horror as your next host,
whilst we destroy it in the Troll body." Garrott waited a heart beat before
striking on. "However, rest assured, should you betray us, then I give you
my word that I will remove you from the Trolls body thus throwing you back
into it again. I will also make sure that I smite your brains and body into
a pulp...for if you betray the trust between us by giving the word, then I
can without repercussion destroy you utterly as can my companions. Would
you be prepared to accept this alternative to attempting to take us, for
realistically, I see no other option than to leave you bound and dying in
the Troll, to protect ourselves." Garrott awaits the words of the being
that is Todiel.
