> You gather your gear together early on the third morning. Most of you
> having suffered bad dreams over the previous nights of betrayal and
> death.
>
> Todiel is insistent that he come with you further into the Kaer and that
> he travel all the way with Temorya, keen to protect his body should
> anything happen.
>
> You begin the long walk down the stair into the Kaer entrance chamber.
> The stairway contains long level stairs that drop slowly in angle,
> easily the work of an elementalist for to do it by hand would have taken
> centuries.
>
> You walk for just under a mile and pass an area that surely would have
> been used for defending the Kaer in a breach, but the area is spotless
> and there is no sign of a struggle here. Another several hundred yards
> and you see the meeting hall stretch out ahead of you.
>
> The light quartzes that line the walls of the kaer chamber are dimmed
> and provide only scant illumination. Little of the light actually
> reaches the floor and you can see why Todiel has had trouble in mapping
> the Kaer. The cavernous hall stretches off to both sides and you can
> see an opening to your left (west) that Todiel states goes into the food
> chamber as he had recorded on his map upstairs.
>
> You can hear movement in the Kaer entrance hall but you cannot see it.
> Todiel cringes at the sound, as though it was bone dragged over rock
> constantly. There are also murmurs as if it were beings having a hushed
> conversation filtering out of the darkness ahead of you. You seem not
> to have been noticed and have just realised that this Kaer must once
> have held over 10000 residents. It is huge and there is much ground to
> cover before you could possibly find what you have come here to get.
>
> Whatever creature took this Kaer is obviously still in existence and its
> servants still move amongst the chamber, by Todiel's reckoning already
> having claimed two other groups of stout adventurers that happened
> through the ruined Kaer.
>
> A low moan, from somewher in the darkness sends a chill up your spine.
> The moan tinged with pain and longing, tormented still by the
> machinations of a creature so evil that it torments those who have died
> and been restored as its servants.
>
> This is the true measure of a hero. To come to the darkness and fight
> it back but you cannot help but feel less than heroic. Fear gnaws at
> your mind and a cold sweat leaps to your brow. Can you face the
> darkness and cast it aside? You are not sure - but you are sure that
> you will stay and find out.
Temorya just concentrates, casts air armor on himself, adjust his matrixes
and then looks into the darkness with heatsight. "Wait a moment," he
whispers, "maybe I can see more with Todiels heat sight."
