Shalandra says "I want to thank you Zoot for your kindness. It is not often that a person will take in a group of people that they do not know as willingly as you have done. I would like to ask if there is anything that I can do to repay you for your hospitality."
Zoot wipes away a tear from his cheek and smiles fondly at Shalandra. "You have done more for me already than you could ever count. You are all welcome here whenever you need a place of rest, or if you wish to come and enjoy the plains with me!" He looks at the back of the Obsidiman wedged in his wagon, prepared to leave for Travar.
Your group heads off from the grove, continuing to follow the river due West. The shadows of the mountain peaks of the Thunder mountains stretch to the North and South of you for the remainder of the day. You find a spot to camp at the source of the river, a large pooled lake fed by the thawing snow tops that cascade down the mountains to the North and South. Zoot had told you that once you reached this point you would only be about 2 days travel from the city of Travar on horseback.
You leave early the next day and travel for a couple of hours before the peaks of the Thunder Mountains turn into foothills and then by the time you stop for a midday meal you find yourself in plains. The sun warms you to the bone on your travel for most of the day, a stark contrast to the way it was hidden behind icy peaks for most of the travel through the mountains. You enjoy the afternoon trip and you all chat of your previous lives, apart from Elklisee who still stays out front of the party to avoid causing any further trouble with Garrott and Farli.
Night comes and you stop as the sun sets to make your camp. By the time it is pitch black you have a fire going and have placed some salted meat in with some of the broth that Zoot gave you in a waxed box to heat up and enjoy for the meal. It has travelled well and though the meat does not make it taste as good as it had the night before, it brings an energy to you as you chew it.
You continue to talk of the trail and Zoot in particular. The weird little Dwarf seemed very surreal in a lot of ways but was far kinder than most you could ever hope to meet on the road. He asked for no proof of your being free from horror taint and gave of his own food to feed such a large group. Although being eccentric, most of you cannot help but smile at the dwarf. Both Pean and Temorya viewed his astral presence and speak of it being not unusual at all.
The fire dies low and you all begin to lay out your bedrolls preparing to catch some sleep. Elklisee has offered to do the watch, and Maerath joins her at the request of Garrott.
You suddenly hear a disturbance as the grass parts near the camp turning to look at what it is your eyes are greeted with a light brighter than a thousand moons glaring at you! Your eyes protest at the light and you try to shut your eyes, only to realise it has blinded you! You hear Farli and Angavorn curse loudly "Felux!" The call is punctuated as you hear Kalais let out a very quick scream that is cut short as you hear his body hit the ground!
<Attacked! Darcy and Erica look at your webpages. For the rest of you, you are effectively blind at the moment which is -4 steps to attack and -4 to phys, spell and social defences. You can hear a creature growling near where Kalais was setting up his bedroll.>
<Moves please>
<Cheers>
