Rose, Garrott and Maerath begin to head out into the common area to display their martial skills. Lenora and Farli join them realising there is an opportunity to hone their own skills at the same time but are also wary of the Warriors as their manner is direct and physical. Ferrock Bladehand, the villages captain of the guard joins you and acts as judge, awarding points for blows made and determining when you are too wounded to continue.
<In other words, rather than actually damaging each other Ferrock will be recording damages as you pull your blows at the last moment>
Determining the rules of battle it is decided to be a free for all. Each of the combatants look to Garrott, seeing his stony skin interspersed by the ruby red blood pebbles that make up his armour. Smiling Garrott grips his blade and invites the combatants in against him. As they move in you see Garrott, Rose and Maerath's skin take on a wooden appearance, strengthening their defence.
Rose is the first to move swiftly in, bringing her crystal battle axe up into Garrott. The huge rockman absorbs the blow, deflecting it with his shield into his chest and Ferrock rules no damage taken. <Hit with 11, 12 damage not enough to pierce armour 13>. Maerath draws his broadsword back and swings a warriors blow against Garrott, Ferrock giving the blow a 3 score as Garrott is not as successful stopping this blow. <Hit with 7, 16 damage dropped to net 3 after armour>. Lenora, shocked at the two warriors acting first is distracted enough to aim a poor blow, cutting nothing but air in a stylised slash. <Miss with 5>. Garrott, finding himself crowded by the four opponents targets Maerath, admiring his style. The blow cuts high as the human warrior reads it easily. <Miss with 3>. Farli leaps in from behind, her hand turning into a claw. Ferrock is incredibly impressed with the blow as Farli brings her weight down giving the blow a score of 20. <Hit with 9. D8 that wouldnt stop for 33, net 20 damage. Garrott makes knockdown test vs target 8>.
Lenora learning the opponents moves slips in swiftly with a jab, and although it is strong Ferrock denies the blow. <Hit with 8. 11 damage not penetrating armour 13> Rose swings again, this time with more might. Garrott already hard pressed just manages to defend against the blow Ferrock awarding nil damage. <Hit with 8. 13 damage not penetrating armour 13> Farli, pleased at her earlier success tries again. Garrott being aware of the blow easily sidesteps it. <Misses with 5> Maerath also confident from his last blow attacks again, his memory of his craft failing this time he strikes nothing but air. <Misses with 4> Garrott swings quickly to face Farli and brings the spiked mace in a measured blow, Ferrock awarding 1 damage. <Hits with 7. 6 damage net 1 with armour 5>
Farli strikes again at Garrott pushing hard with the claw, though Ferrock awards no damage. <Hit with 8. 13 damage not penetrating armour 13> Lenora strikes in a finely measured blow, a laugh crossing her lips. She only frowns as Ferrock calls out that no damage was awarded. <Hits with 10. 10 damage not penetrating 13 armour> Maerath finds his warrior heart as he screams thrusting his broadsword up. Thystonius guides the blade as Ferrock calls out an armour defeating blow and a mammoth 14 points. <Armour defeating hit 18. 14 damage> You all look disappointed to Ferrock as he advises that Garrott is still well and truly in the battle. Garrott strikes out at Farli again and Ferrock calls out 8 points. <Hits with 8. 13 damage net 8 with 5 armour.> Rose strikes again from behind this time though receives the familiar call of no damage from Ferrock. <Hits with 7. Damage 12 not penetrating 13 armour>
Lenora moves swiftly, deciding on an aggressive strike she moves in but loses her footing. The blade slips from her grasp and tumbles out onto the common. Regaining her footing she chases after it cursing herself. Farli, beset on by Garrott lashes out, her claw striking forcibly with Ferrock calling out 6 damage. <Hits with 9. 19 damage providing 6 net over 13 armour.> Maerath seeks the same blow as before and though Thystonius is still in his actions the blade is not as controlled this time. Ferrock calling out nil damage. <Hits with 14. Damage 5 not penetrating 13 armour> Rose strikes again at Garrotts back and is pleased to hear Ferrock call out 1 damage rather than nil. <Hits with 9. 14 damage is one net over 13 armour> Garrott strikes again at Farli deciding to concentrate his attacks and better his odds. Striking a forceful blow, Ferrock calls out 10 damage as Farli crashes to the dirt. <Hits with 7. 15 damage is 10 net over 5 armour. Farli fails knockdown test vs target 3 by rolling a one>
Garrott, allowing Farli to regain herself turns to Maerath and swings his spiked mace. The blow goes high and Maerath easily avoids it. <Misses with 7.> Lenora scrambles, picking up her sword, returning to the battle to find a way back into the battle. Rose strikes again, this time from the obsidimans side and cannot help but smile as Ferrock calls out 4 damage. <Hits with 7. 17 damage is net 4 over 13 armour.> Farli pushes herself up from the dust, also seeking an opening against the great warrior. Maerath strikes out last hitting but the call is no damage. <Hits with 10. 12 damage not penetrating 13 armour>
Rose swings at Garrott again trying to build on her success. Unfortumately the blow is poorly placed, with very little discipline and comes nowhere near the Obsidiman. <Misses with a 2> Farli leaps in again at Garrott and strikes with her claw hand, Ferrock calling out 9 damage. <Hits with a 10. 22 damage is 9 net over 13 armour> Lenora taking advantage of an opening strikes with the precision of a swordmaster with a lunge. Armour defeating 17 damage comes the call from Ferrock. Garrott is out of the game and Ferrock gives the warrior an approving nod as he moves to stand with him. <Hits with 26. Armour defeating 17 damage.> Maerath seeing Farli as the most wounded allows his warrior instinct to choose her as his next target. He strikes out but Farli leaps the blow easily. <Misses with a 6.>
Farli swings with her clawed hand against Maerath. Her blow is true and Ferrock awards it 5 damage. <Hits with 14. 15 damage net 5 over 10 armour> Maerath strikes straight back in answer to the challenge causing Ferrock to call out 7 damage. <Hits with 8. 12 damage is net 7 over 5 physical armour.> Lenora chooses Rose to battle against, neither of them having joined a battle as yet, striking out she hears Ferrock call out 6 damage. <Hits with 12. 10 damage giving 6 net over 4 armour.> Rose attempts to return the blow but is taken by surprise at Lenora and misses. <Misses with a 2>
Lenora strikes out at Rose, her confidence building she beams and lets out a laugh as Ferrock calls out 12 damage and Rose struggles to remain standing. <Hits with 13. 16 damage is Net 12 over 4 armour.> Maerath strikes at Farli but the blow provides no penetration. <Hits with 10. 5 damage does not penetrate 5 armour.> Farli strikes Maerath back with her clawed hand but also cannot penetrate his armour. <Hits with 10. 9 damage not penetrating 10 armour.> Rose strikes back at the grinning Lenora and Ferrock calls out 4 damage. <Hits with 10. 8 damage is 4 net over 4 armour.>
Lenora follows in pushing her attack on Rose. Rose reads the attack like a seasoned warrior and moves reactively from the blow before it is even struck. <Misses with 4.> Maerath swings in to Farli and gets a call of 4 damage from Ferrock. <Hits with 13. 9 damage is 4 net over 5 armour.> Farli, seeking the inside blow strikes out with a claw again, 3 damage the call from Ferrock. <Hits with 9. 13 damage 3 net over 10 armour.> Rose strikes back, Lenora teeteringfrom her missed blow. 11 damage is the call from the strike with the crystal battle axe, as Lenora falls to the dirt with the force of the blow. <Hit with 8. 15 damage net 11 with 4 armour. Lenora fail knockdown with targe number 5 on a roll of 3.>
Sensing her opportunity to put Lenora out of the battle, Rose seizes it, bringing her axe down on the helpless foe. Armour defeating 21 calls Ferrock and announces that Lenora is now out of the battle. <Hits 23. 21 damage armour defeating.> Indignantly Lenora gets up brushing the dirt away from her sweat. Farli misses Maerath with her blow as she watches the final blow on Lenora as Maerath also misses her doing the same. <Missing with a 4 and 3.>
Farli, seeking the advantage ducks in attempting to strike but misses to the left. <Misses with a 6.> Maerath sensing the attack drives his blade down at the right time prompting a call of armour defeating 16 damage and the declaration that Farli is now out of the battle. <Hits with a 21. Armour defeating 16 damage.> Rose joins the battle as one of the final combatants and strikes at Maerath. Too deep in his feeling of Thystonius Maerath easily leaps out of the way. <Misses with a 6.>
Maerath moves in and strikes out, Rose reading the blow dodges and counters, missing also. <Misses with 5 and 8 respectively.> Rose tries to gain the advantage and strikes a firm blow eliciting a response of 3 damage from Ferrock. <Hits with 15. 13 damage net 3 over 10 armour.> Maerath also not to be outdone times his blow perfectly and the call of armour defeating is heard again causing 11 damage and rose has to exit the game, leaving Maerath the last standing on the common. <Hits with 17. Armour defeating 11 damage.>
You hear the faint smattering of applause as some of the villagers have stopped to see the battle unfold and they begin to make their way from the area. Ferrock nods at you all. "You are all great fighters and I would be proud to have you in the guard. Congratulations to you all for a battle well met." With this he smiles at you all and reenters Peans abode.
