Shalandra turns to Temorya, "Temorya, could you please look at this also. We were just about to tell everyone about it when we were attacked by what who thought was Kaleb. "
Shalandra turn to Pean, "Could I get the other mask back from you please." She then turns to Temorya. "This mask was found on Shalamar at the stable this morning. I'm afraid that if it might kill the wearer and cause someone else to look like the dead. I could have been killed riding another horse thinking it was Shalamar."

You watch as Kaleb's companions stare in abject horror of the scene before them. Rose turns over the chalice to Pean and it hangs limp from his hand as he surveys the scene. Moving outside to await them, you find Garrott and Farli keeping the growing crowd from coming too close to the forge. Some of the villagers sit, head in hands by the side of the road and weep. Most though stare at you all with accusing eyes. You know their thoughts. You are the outsider. A death has occurred, surely there is a connection.
You are glad to see the human they called Angavorn, a member of the guard, working with Farli and Garrott, placing a cap on any stupid thoughts they may have. By him working with you, you are certain that their thoughts will pass and reason will soon take hold again, hopefully soon after you speak with the mayor, Sara Mayfler.
It is not too long before the others begin to come out. Shalandra and Maerath carry a pallet with a bloody blanket draped over the body of Kaleb to hide him from sight. Shalamar steps in behind her mistress from the point where the boy had left her before. Pean walks out, the chalice still clasped between his spindly fingers as though forgotten. Then you see Temorya walk behind him. The energetic Windling has his wings lowered behind him, with his head down.
You follow the procession back to Pean's, knowing full well that the room will be well crowded with Veltus, the imposter and Kaleb.
As you enter, you see the group sitting on benches, the body of Kaleb still draped in the blanket placed in the last space in the examination chamber. The tense feeling of the room is gone and you feel the heavy weight of depression surrounding you.
Pean looks up, and starts speaking at a slow pace. "The room was tainted, certainly. But what room would not be in such circumstances. It is taint that will fade quickly, not the fear and suffering caused by a horror. Still, with the nature of the crime, we cannot rule out that the murdererwas not acting under the power of a horror. Especially when you consider this!" Pean lifts the dwarven death mask up. "It is a work of art, but horrible, as if twisted by a horror. I have no doubt the mask is chiseled by a name giver rather than created." He then picks up the chalice.
"Is this some form of ritual aid? I am not certain but Temorya here was able to divine more, his natural sight seeing something."
"Yes, yes! My eyes peeled back the layers of this onion. It is magical though to what end I know not. The aura and pattern of this one is most interesting and warrants further study."
Garrott stands slowly and looks to Rose and then Maerath. "Perhaps we warriors are best practiscing our art in mock battle. Let us allow our companions to discuss this in more depth, for I am uncertain of such magical things. I sense the heart of a warrior in each of you and in such circumstances our faith in Thystonius may blow away the grief that saps my energy." Without waiting to seeif they follow him, the huge rock man stoops and steps into the street.
Before too much more time passes, another Obsidiman walks in the front door, the merchant Omasu. He is followed by Sara Mayfler and then Ferrock Bladehand last.
Sara moves quickly to Veltus' side and grasps his limp hand in hers. Turning, a tear in her eye she looks across the room.
"What have you all? What is the story here and more importantly, how are you goingto proceed?" A steely eyed glare comes from Sara. Her emotions for Veltus obviously strong, but you see her look at the shape under the bloodied sheet as tears begin to stream down her face.
